Performers show off their talents
at a Bishop Museum celebration

"Ku'u One Hanau, Sands of My Birth" at Bishop Museum yesterday celebrated the arts and culture of indigenous groups in the Pacific region. Among the performers at the event were, from left, Joseph Chelith, Sarah Matagolai and John Rulmal, members of Remathau Club from the island of Yap, who waited to perform traditional dances.

Sarjus Moonin, a participant from Nanwalek, Alaska, took a break with a local plate lunch. In addition to Alaskans, Hawaiian and Brazilian performers also participated.

Tommie Suganuma, right, danced an impromptu hula yesterday. Also featured at the event were workshops and demonstrations featuring the arts and culture of the Marshall Islands, Palau and Pohnpei.
