Falling out of contention yesterday were ex-Hawaii player Heidi Ilustre and former Hawaii-Hilo standout Tanya Fuamatu, who lost to Stephanie Cox and Jan Holdren.

Hawaii AD search progresses after meeting

Its job isn't done yet, but the University of Hawaii athletics director search committee is well on its way to selecting three to five finalists after meeting yesterday.

"We've been able to narrow the pool," committee chairman David McClain said. "We've reported to the chancellor where we're at. It depends what happens from this point on when we will meet again."

McClain would not divulge more information -- such as the names of those being considered for finalists. He did say the committee still has work to do.

After the committee chooses the finalists, UH Manoa interim chancellor Deane Neubauer and President Evan Dobelle will select the new athletics director (pending Board of Regents approval) to replace the retiring Hugh Yoshida.
