Miss VIP Kehaulani Christian wins the crown

Kehaulani Christian, above, was crowned Miss Hawaii 2002 last night at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. A 1997 graduate of Roosevelt High School, she has attended Kapiolani Community College and Hawaii Pacific University and is an advocate for children's literacy. She held the title Miss VIP, and for the talent competition performed a Tahitian dance medley.

NEW JUDGES ARE SWORN IN

Well-wishers greeted judges Clarence Pacarro (in background, with lei) and Paul Murakami (wearing glasses) yesterday following swearing-in ceremonies at the Hawaii State Supreme Court. Pacarro was sworn in as a District Court judge, and Murakami was sworn in as a Family Court judge.
