Question: What ever happened to Virginia Taniguchi, who was married to two men at the same time, had four different identities and had pleaded guilty to committing a series of frauds to finance her comfortable lifestyle?

Answer: Virginia Taniguchi (also known as Virginia Agustin, Eunette Tashiro and Virginia Dumlao), the former Honolulu hospital official who led four lives, married two men and stole $800,000 from patients and insurance carriers to finance her luxurious lifestyle, was sentenced to five years in prison without parole in 1996.

She spent her time at the Federal Correctional Institution in Dublin, Calif., and was released on Jan. 19, 2000.

She currently resides in Hawaii but declined to comment on her prison term or release.

Taniguchi stole or forged 119 Straub Clinic & Hospital checks during her less than three years there as a patient account representative.

From December 1991 to June 1992, as a patient service representative at Diagnostic Laboratory Services, Taniguchi took about $5,000 in refund checks that were supposed to be mailed to patients.

On top of her five-year sentence, Taniguchi was also ordered to pay $160,000 in restitution to her victims. She is continuing to fulfill that payment.
