Kingston Trio back home
The Kingston Trio will play a trio of concerts tomorrow through Thursday at Punahou School's Dillingham Hall to help the Class of '52 celebrate its 50th reunion. The concerts will mark a homecoming for Shane, as it was in 1951 that he and fellow Punahou Class of '52 classmate Dave Guard first performed together as part of a western revue that was part of Punahou's annual variety show.
The two would become two-thirds of the folky Kingston Trio in 1957, and Shane continues to lead the contemporary version of the group, which also features George Grove and Bob Haworth.
The concerts take place at 7 p.m. tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday, with tickets priced at $35. There is also a special $75 "Dress Circle" reception scheduled each evening following the performance. The price includes complementary beer, wine, pupu and the opportunity to meet the performers.
