The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

CB Bancshares Inc., continuing a yearlong trend that has seen strength in banking stocks nationwide, jumped 4 percent this week to lead 11 other companies in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index. City Bank's holding company, which didn't trade yesterday, ended the week at $40.74, just off the 52-week high of $40.95 it hit on Monday. CB Bancshares' stock is up 15.6 percent this year, third best in the index. City Bank parent moves higher
Cyanotech Corp., which reported positive clinical results for nutritional product BioAstin, was the second-best performer with a gain of 2.4 percent to 87 cents. The stock, however, has been below $1 for the last 15 trading days.
Barnwell Industries Inc., whose stock is 30 cents lower than where it started the year, gained 1.2 percent this week to finish at $20.45.
The worst performer was Aquasearch Inc., which fell 14.3 percent to 6 cents.
