It's a family affair for two selections in this year's Nissan Hawaii High School Hall of Honor.

Brandon Ala of Kamehameha and Kauai's Tiana Lum-Tucker are among the 12 student-athletes chosen for the Class of 2002. Their siblings, Houston Ala and Bradley Lum-Tucker, were members of the Class of 2000.

Selections are made based on athletic and academic achievements, and character.

Brandon Ala, who set the state record in the discus earlier this month, was an all-league selection for the Warriors. Tiana Lum-Tucker excelled in six sports for the Red Raiders: volleyball, tennis, soccer, cross country, track and swimming.

Joining the two are:
>> Brent "Ikaika" Alama-Francis, Kalaheo, basketball and volleyball;
>> Abraham Apilado Jr., Waimea, football and track;
>> Mahie Atay, Baldwin, basketball and Star-Bulletin state player of the year in soccer;
>> Bart Thomas Casco, Lahainaluna, football and wrestling;
>> Lauran Dignam, Iolani, cross country, soccer and a five-time gold medalist in track;
>> Jarett Hamamoto, Waiakea, two-time prep golf champion;
>> Todd Iacovelli, Punahou, cross country and double gold medalist in this month's track;
>> Tyler Perkins, Kamehameha, football, baseball and track;
>> Ashley Ruff, Kamehameha, softball, soccer and a member of this year's state basketball champion team;
>> Ashley Swart, Kaiser, cross country, swimming and track.

The 12 will receive a $2,000 scholarship and a Hall of Honor ring. The awards banquet is scheduled for June 2 at the Ilikai. For information call 837-6036.
