The Rock is coming home.

The 6-foot-5, 275-pound superstar of wrestling and the box office hit "The Scorpion King," Dwayne Johnson, a.k.a. The Rock, comes to the Blaisdell Arena June 15 at 4 p.m. in the World Wrestling Entertainment's "Tour of Defiance" to compete against Chris Jericho in a no-disqualification bout.

Johnson attended Washington Intermediate School in Honolulu. His father, Rocky Johnson, and grandfather, "High Chief" Peter Maivia, were also pro wrestlers.

Joining The Rock will be 18 other competitors in seven matches:

>> Edge vs. Kurt Angle.

>> Test vs. Rikishi.

>> WWE Tag Team Title Bout: Al Snow and Maven vs. Billy and Chuck w/ Rico.

>> WWE Cruiserweight Title Bout: Billy Kidman vs. Tajiri.

>> Randy Orton vs. Hardcore Holly.

>> The Big Valbowski and Mark Henry vs. Lance Storm and Christian.

>> The Hurricane vs. Chavo Guerrero Jr.

There also will be the WWE Swimsuit Challenge featuring Torrie Wilson vs. Stacy Keibler vs. Ivory.

It's been eight years since the WWE's last stop in Hawaii.

Tickets are $25, $45, $75 and $90, and go on sale 9 a.m. Saturday at the Blaisdell box office and all Ticket Plus outlets.

Tickets also can be purchased by phone by calling 526-4400 or online at www.ticketplushawaii.com. For more information call the Blaisdell box office at 591-2211.

Johnson portrayed Mathayus in "The Scorpion King" with co-star and former Hawaii resident Kelly Hu. The Rock already has been signed for his next movie, "Helldorado," an action movie set in the Amazon in which he will play a bounty hunter.

Known as "The People's Champ," the body-slamming muscleman raises his eyebrow suggestively and snarls wisecracks that whip crowds into a frenzy.

Johnson, 30, was a Florida college football player. He became a defensive tackle at the University of Miami and graduated with a degree in criminology, but injuries kept him out of the National Football League.

That's when he adopted the wrestling pseudonym Rocky Maivia, which he eventually shortened to The Rock. By his mid-20s, he had become one of the World Wrestling Federation's biggest stars.

He's a fan favorite whom audiences cheer while he pummels villainous rivals such as Chris Jericho and the Undertaker.
