Bubbling thoughts
Star-Bulletin Staff
Artist Jason Teraoka's latest series of paintings are the thought bubbles that represent his inner world inspired by childhood memories and contemporary experiences. In a young boy's mind, a stick horse is as powerful as a stampede of stallions. A man with rabbit ears stands as a metaphor for timid leader of men.
The series, titled "Stampede," is painted on cut-out plywood shaped to resemble thought bubbles on the comics page. The characters are colorful and straightforward, as are cartoon characters.
The exhibition opened Friday at Bibelot Gallery and continues through June 7. The gallery, above the post office in Kaimuki at 1130 Koko Head Ave., is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays. Call 738-0368 for more information.
