The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

High-flying CPB Inc. jumped 8.8 percent this week to extend its lead this year as the best performing stock in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index. The parent of Central Pacific Bank ended yesterday at a 52-week high of $44.50 and is now up 51.3 percent in 2002. Central Pacific Bank
parent soarsAquasearch Inc., the second-best performing stock this year despite being in Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization, rose 7.7 percent this week to end at 7 cents. The shares are up 20.7 percent this year.
Among other notable movers were Bank of Hawaii Corp., which gained 4.6 percent to end the week at a 52-week high of $29.41. Alexander & Baldwin Inc., which hit a 52-week high of $29.12 on Wednesday, finished the week up 1.8 percent at $29.04.
Ceatech USA Inc., which posted a narrower 2002 fiscal year loss from year-ago levels, brought up the rear as it fell 20 percent to 60 cents.
