Honolulu will join cities across the nation tomorrow in celebrating noteworthy historic and architectural sites in its Capitol district in the eighth annual "A Capital Day, Down Capitol Way" event. Honolulu to note

There will be free admission to the museums and free Waikiki Trolley Rides to the following locations from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
>> Honolulu Hale: Opening ceremony at 9 a.m. Continuous tours of the building with historical photos on display in the courtyard.
>> State Capitol: Continuous tours of House and Senate chambers, governor's and lieutenant governor's offices, and public access room. Video presentation in auditorium. Closing ceremonies, 3 p.m.
>> Aliiolani Hale: Continuous tours of King Kamehameha V Judiciary History Center, including the Supreme Court of Hawaii, administration offices and law library.
>> Iolani Palace: Continuous 15-minute guided tours of the state rooms on first floor, beginning at 9 a.m., with last tour leaving at 1:30 p.m. No children under age 5 will be admitted. All children welcome in the Palace Galleries. The video "Restoration" is shown every half-hour in the Iolani Barracks theater.
>> Washington Place: Continuous tours from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
>> Honolulu Police Department's Law Enforcement Museum: Continuous tours, exhibits of famous criminal cases and officers, such as Chang Apana, also known as Charlie Chan.
>> Mission Houses Museum: "Crossroads of change" exhibit of life at Honolulu Mission station. Guided tours by costumed docents of three buildings.
>> Ka Ho'ike Mo'olelo, "A History Fair": On Mission Houses Museum grounds. Includes an exhibit on Father Damien, demonstrations on kapa making, lau hala weaving, poi pounding, loom weaving and a Civil War re-enactment.
>> St. Andrew's Cathedral: Tours led by docents from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; children's tours also offered. Highlights include bell tower, new sacred space dedicated to King Kamehameha IV and Queen Emma, ancient meditation tool of the labyrinth, hymn singing in Hawaiian and English with organ. Tea and cookies served.
>> Honolulu Academy of Arts: Tours and exhibitions. The second-floor Henry R. Luce Wing in new Luce Pavilion complex houses a pictorial record of Hawaii.
>> YWCA of Oahu: Tours from 9:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. of 75-year-old building. Plate lunches available at Cafe Laniakea from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Ceramic showcase sale by Toshiko Takaezu Ceramics Studio from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
>> Historic Hawaii Foundation: Games, prizes and educational activities for all ages, ground level of the state Capitol. Learn about upcoming tours, projects and activities.
>> Hawaii State Library: Guided tours. Hawaiian storytelling and demonstrations of crafts, including quilting, wiliwili lei making and lau hala weaving.
