Musashimaru remains
undefeated, but two ozekis
suffers upset defeats

TOKYO (AP) - Hawaii-born yokozuna Musashimaru scored his second straight victory, but the two ozekis Kaio and Musoyama suffered their first upset defeats Monday, the second day of the 15-day Summer Grand Sumo Tournament.

Two other ozekis Chiyotaikai and Tochiazuma also remained undefeated at 2-0 along with nine wrestlers, including three Mongolian wrestlers - sekiwake Asashoryu, No. 4 maegashira Kyokutenho and No. 10 maegashira Kyokushuzan.

In the day's final bout at the Ryogoku Kokugikan Sumo Arena, Musashimaru, or Fiamalu Penitani, fought off No. 1 maegashira Toki's hand thrusts and pulling attempts and sent him out, leaving Toki at 0-2.

Ozeki Chiyotaikai charged No. 1 maegashira Aminishiki with hand thrusts against his foe's throat and bulldozed him out, leaving Aminishiki at 0-2.

Ozeki Tochiazuma put both hands inside No. 2 maegashira Takanonami's belt, lifted him and sent him out, leaving Takanonami at 0-2.

In other major bouts, Komusubi Tochinonada fought off ozeki Kaio's driving attempts and twisted him down for his second victory against no defeats. Kaio is 1-1.

No. 2 maegashira Tosanoumi overpowered ozeki Musoyama after pushing each other in the mid-ring, leaving both wrestlers at 1-1.

Asashoryu, or Mongolian Dolgorsvren Dagvadrj, grabbed No. 3 maegashira Takanowaka's belt quickly and threw him down, leaving Takanowaka at 0-2.

Kyokutenho, or Mongolian Tsevegynyam Nyamjav, downed No. 6 maegashira Kotonowaka with an arm throw, leaving Kotonowaka at 0-2.

No. 10 maegashira Kyokushuzan, or Batbayer Davaa from Mongolia, charged No. 8 maegashira Kaiho with a leg trick and pulled him down. Kaiho is 1-1.
