Woman's Jesus statue is on state land, Texas finds
NEW WAVERLY, Texas >> Faith is literally getting in the way for Evelyn Blazek, 83.A Texas Department of Transportation survey of the property surrounding her 17-foot statue of Jesus concluded it is inside the state right of way along Highway 105 East.
Blazek believes the survey is wrong and hopes she won't be asked to remove her statue.
Blazek said she plans to have the statue blessed tomorrow. It was completed in November for her 30-year-old religious sanctuary, Sacred Gardens.
"I didn't want to cause any trouble. All my life, I've had a dream to make the world a better place. I wanted people who passed the statue to be reminded of our Lord," she said.
