The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

City Bank parent CB Bancshares Inc., continuing to make a move toward its all-time high of $45 set in October 1997, rose 5.2 percent this week to close at $39 and lead 11 other stocks in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index. It is just 50 cents below its one-year high. City Bank parent moves higher
Alexander & Baldwin Inc., which had the next best gain with a 4.9 percent advance, ended yesterday at $28.60 -- just off its 52-week high of $28.69 set last month.
Central Pacific Bank parent CPB Inc. rose 3.8 percent to end at its 52-week high of $39.50 while Hawaiian Electric Industries Inc., up 3.2 percent, also closed yesterday at a 52-week high of $47.42.
ML Macadamia Orchards L.P., up 2.2 percent, and Bank of Hawaii Corp., ahead 1.5 percent, were the only others in positive territory for the week.
Cyanotech Corp. posted the worst performance as it plunged 14.6 percent to close at $1.
