Akau carded a final-round score of 1-under-par 71 to finish with a total of 137, seven strokes ahead of runner-up and teammate Chris Caycayon in the boys final. Chris Souza completed the Warriors' sweep of the top three spots with a final round of 75 and a total of 145.
Chun overcame a second-round charge by Punahou's Lindsay Hong to win the girls title. Chun entered the final round with a five-stroke lead over Hong after firing a 76 in the opening round. She shot an 11-over-par 83 yesterday for a total of 159, hanging on to edge Hong -- who shot 7-over-par 79 -- by a single stroke.
Moanalua's Arnold Sano fired a closing round of even-par 72 on Tuesday to win the Oahu Interscholastic Association boys title at Pearl Country Club. Sano carded a total of 148.
Roosevelt's Xyra Suyetsugu birdied the first hole of a playoff with Moanalua's Ayumi Hori to win the OIA girls title.
Waiakea swept top honors in the Big Island Interscholastic Federation finals Tuesday at Hualalai Golf Course.
The girls state tournament is May 9 and 10 at the Hawaii Prince Golf Course. The boys tournament is May 16 and 17 at Leilehua Golf Course.
