A surfer made the drop backside yesterday afternoon at Ala Moana "Bowls." Southeast winds made for rugged conditions in the 4- to 6-foot surf. The swell is continuing today.

Multiple Honolulu Fire Department companies were called to a reported fire downtown yesterday at 1055 Alakea St. Smoke was reported visible on the roof, but no fire was found. Firefighter Oscar Cano from Engine No. 1 disconnected a fire hose as crews prepared to leave.
