Games and food booths were set up at the newly renovated Aala Park yesterday to celebrate the Weed & Seed Program's success in Hawaii. Among those attending yesterday's festivities was Isaac Mendoza, who took a shot to the head from Dominic Perron during a joust. The Weed & Seed Program, which was first launched in the Kalihi-Palama and Chinatown areas in 1998 before expanding to Waipahu in 2000, works to weed out crime in communities and seed them with neighborhood restoration projects.
