Iolani steals win
over St. Louis

Iolani's Kelly Teramoto stole home to score the winning run in the sixth inning as the Raiders beat St. Louis 3-2 last night in the opening round of the Interscholastic League of Honolulu tournament at Ala Wai Field.

Teramoto broke for home after teammate Jay Marcouiller got into a rundown between first and second. The throw home was late.

Chris Loo allowed just three hits while striking out six in the complete-game victory.

The Crusaders had the tying run on first with two down in the bottom of the seventh. Loo got Jowen Murray-Thornton to hit a grounder deep into the hole between short and third. Shortstop Todd Yoshioka threw out Murray-Thornton in a close play at first to end the game.

A three-run homer by Keoni Ruth and a two-run shot by Zach McAngus helped the Warriors beat the Monarchs in the ILH first round.

Troy Hanzawa drilled three hits and Matt Inouye homered and drove in two runs to lead the Owls past the Wolfpack.

Inouye scored three times. He had a run-scoring double in the third and led off the fifth with a solo homer. Ryan Basco started and pitched six shutout innings to get the win.

Maryknoll 36, Iolani 35: Whitney Wong hit two free throws with 20 seconds left and the Spartans (8-4) played tough defense to thwart a last-second shot by the Raiders (6-6).

Iolani was without two key players. Ginger Gravelle sprained an ankle and Fabriann Gin fell on her head against Sacred Hearts on Tuesday.

OIA tennis

Farrington's Anthony Ilagan won his second consecutive Oahu Interscholastic Association title by beating Moanalua's Jamie Migia 6-0, 1-6, 6-3 Wednesday at the Brigham Young University-Hawaii tennis courts.

Waipahu's Chloe Bihag won the girls title. The sophomore defeated Juliene Yamamoto of Moanalua 6-3, 6-4.

In girls doubles, Sarah Galon and Kim Chikazawa of Leilehua easily won the title by beating Christy Kaneshiro and Jessica Lum of Pearl City 6-1, 6-0. The boys doubles title was won by Jeremy Perron and Joel Maeshiro of Mililani, who upset Aiea's brother duo of Arthur and Siphathay Phanphengdy 6-3, 6-3.
