MacNaughton,
Victoria Ward capture
top NAIOP awards

Duncan MacNaughton and Victoria Ward Ltd. were singled this week out for top awards by the Hawaii chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties.

At its 2002 Kukulu Hale award ceremony at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, MacNaughton was presented with a lifetime achievement award. In the past 30 years MacNaughton, president of The MacNaughton Group, has been principal as well as owner of numerous commercial properties state- wide, including Pali Momi Medical Center, Maui Marketplace and Kmart stores in Kona and Kahului.

Victoria Ward was named Developer of the Year for its development and renovation of 450,000 square feet of retail, office and warehouse space in Kakaako.

The association's Outstanding Service award, intended for public figures, honored Mayor Jeremy Harris for what the organization called "his administration's implementation of major changes in land use planning, preservation of open spaces and programs," such as the visioning plan intended to involve residents in community planning.

Nine real estate transactions and projects also won awards:

>> Sales Transaction of the Year: Colliers Monroe & Friedlander for the sale of the former Kodak Building, which will become the Honolulu Design Center

>> Lease Transaction of the Year: Victoria Ward Ltd. for the Dave & Buster's restaurant lease

>> New projects awarded include: Hilton Hawaiian Village Kalia Tower, Ward Entertainment Center, Waipio Peninsula Soccer Park, Kapolei Regional Police Station

>> Renovation awards include: First Hawaiian Bank Kapiolani branch, Outrigger Waikoloa Beach Hotel & Resort, Kalihi Valley Homes.
