There will be light pupu, refreshments and music to keep shoppers entertained as Double Paws Wear celebrates the grand opening of its new studio store in Kaimuki, from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday.

Customers will be able to peek into the studio to see how Double Paws Wear's contemporary aloha wear is made.

In addition to clothing, the studio will be the exclusive outlet for Raymond Yamachika's one-of-a-kind necklaces, petroglyph bags by Lunn Cooke, zoris by Nake'u and Earth Goddess Essentials hand-crafted toiletries.

One for the guys, girls

Don't be late as those who purchase two Hawaiian Style T-shirts and tank tops at Macy's Ala Moana's Island Young Men's Department on Saturday and Sunday make off with a free Hawaiian Style CD, while supplies last.

Meanwhile, in the handbag department, Sunny Hawaii rep Carol Jacobs will introduce the company's Spring 2002 collection featuring a canvas tote for "The Girls," from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday.

The sassy embroidered bags are made to suit different personalities, such as the "exercise girl," "spa girl" or "shopping girl," to name a few. The bags range in price from $10 to $60, but it's free to look. Call 945-5894 for more information.

'Beauty' of a show

It's your last chance to sign up "American Beauty," a show of St. John's fall 2002 collection Saturday at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel.

The event is a benefit for the Associated Chinese University Women Scholarship Fund.

The event begins with boutique sales from 9 a.m. Doors will open at 11 a.m., followed by a noon lunch and 1 p.m. show.

Among designs that will be shown are mandarin-collar jackets, tailored suits for day, and a modified red, white and blue palette.

Tickets are $45 general and $60 for a ramp-side seating. To purchase tickets, call Nora Chong at 988-6197 or St. John Ala Moana at 971-1166.
