Regan Lee lost two shots on Kevin Hayashi yesterday but will still go into today's final round of the Mid-Pacific Open leading by three strokes.

Hayashi was two strokes better than the rest of the field with a 65, followed by Lee, Shinsuke Yanagisawa and Ron Castillo Jr. with 67s.

Lee shot a 67 after putting up a 68 on Friday.

Hayashi entered the round tied for third but moved into second when Ed Tischler was hung with a 71 and dropped to fifth place. Hayashi has improved in each day of the tournament, preceding his 65 with a 68 in the second round and a 70 on the first day. Hayashi's 65 was also the lowest round of the tournament so far, matching Lee's 65 on the first day.

Yanagisawa and Beau Yokomoto entered the day tied with Hayashi. Yanagisawa held his ground to keep third place but Yokomoto tees off today in fourth after shooting a 68.

Wendell Kop made the comeback of the day in the championship flight, roaring back from 11th place with a 68 to take the lead with one round left. He easily passed Brandan Kop, who led by a stroke after the first two days but shot a 74 yesterday to settle into second one stroke behind, 217-216.

Wendell Kop was not the only one to make a comeback. Jonathan Ota started tied with Wendell Kop and shot a 69 to head into play today tied for second with Brandon Kop and Mark West, one stroke behind at 217. Blaine Kimura will tee off in fifth, two strokes behind at 218.
