mixer maniaProfessional Results Inc.'s Hawaiian Hard Drive publishing arm is producing a new "infoworking" event to be called "Hawaiian Hard Drive Nights."
Scheduled for the last Tuesday of the month, it will be from 5 to 7 p.m. at Brew Moon Restaurant & Microbrewery at Ward Centre.
"The same bat place, the same bat time," Professional Results Public Relations Director Jennifer Li said, running the risk of geekocity with the Batman mention.
"It's not just geeks that'll be coming," she insisted. "We've targeted business owners, CEOs and high-level executives."
Hawaiian Hard Drive is a locally produced, free monthly computer and information publication with a Web site and a weekly radio show on KCCN AM.
The mixer "will be the fourth major pillar of the Hawaiian Hard Drive (brand)," Li said. "It's quite important that we differentiate ourselves."
"It's not just a normal stand around-and-have-a-beer format," Professional Results President and HHD Publisher Ed Nishioka said.
"It's a targeted program" that will be carried through the month in the magazine, on the Web and on the air.
Programs will "serve as a catalyst to bring these people together and give them an opportunity to meet in an informal environment to talk about business issues and carry on the conversation and business to a later date," Li said.
Starting with the April 30 mixer for small business sponsored by Automatic Data Processing, those planned for future months will highlight wireless, sports and recreation, health, legal and law enforcement among other fields.
Meanwhile the differently targeted E-List, the mixer merged with the Hawaii Technology Trade Association's "Plugged In" events since July, continues to stage events as well.
Details for the May event are being nailed down but the June gathering is to offer "five minutes with an angel (investor)," according to volunteer Stacey Hayashi.
The event follows the UH business plan competition, offering students a second opportunity to pitch the stuff of which dreams are made.
Sponsor DVD Shop Hawaii, of which Hayashi is a co-owner, is producing a video about success despite the economy.
The June 6 E-List will coincide with a regular weekly event at Rumours nightclub at the Ala Moana Hotel where local Latin DJs throw down, slamming "Salsa After Dark" from 5 p.m.
