Kalaheo rally sends
Kahuku to first loss

Latoya Wily scored eight points in the second half as Kalaheo rallied for a 51-47 win at Kahuku in an Oahu Interscholastic Association Eastern Division basketball game last night.

The Mustangs and Red Raiders are now tied for second in the OIA East at 4-1. McKinley is alone in first at 5-0.

Kahuku led 30-27 at halftime before Wily led Kalaheo's comeback. The Mustangs took the lead in the third quarter and held off the Red Raiders the rest of the way.

Kalaheo won despite going 12-for-34 from the free-throw line. But Kahuku helped the Mustangs by hitting just 3 of 18 from the line, 1 of 8 in the second half.

Kahuku's Kelci Naihe led all scorers with 15 points. Mereani Lewenilovo added 11.

Bre Carson led Kalaheo with 11 points, all of which came in the second quarter. Wily finished with 10.

McKinley 64, Kaiser 28: Amber Lee scored 14 of her 25 points in the first half as the Tigers remained unbeaten in the division.

The Tigers hit six 3-point shots, three by Chyloh Rodrigues, who finished with 15 points.

Kalani 42, Moanalua 35: The Falcons took a 24-14 lead at halftime and held on for the road win over the Menehunes.

Chenty Bonifacio scored eight of her 12 points in the first half for Kalani. Ashley Takata also finished with 12 points.

Ronni Keliihoomalu led Moanalua with 13 points.

Roosevelt 42, Castle 24: Ashlie Dutro scored 14 of her game-high 19 points in the first half as the Rough Riders cruised past the Knights.

Dutro contributed eight points in the second quarter when Roosevelt took control by outscoring Castle 20-2.

Kaimuki 45, Farrington 38: Dalia Solia scored eight of her 19 points in the fourth quarter as the Bulldogs held off the Governors.

Kaimuki trailed 16-13 at halftime, but took the lead in the third quarter by outscoring Farrington 18-10.

Laosamoa Uli led Farrington with 16 points and Meleane Mateaki added 10.
