Auwae is the defending state champion in the Junior Longboard Division and is also a member of the Hawaii team that will compete in the World Championships set for May 24 to June 3 in South Africa.
He will try to retain his state title at the HASA state championships scheduled for June 6-9 at Ala Moana.
Pool play: Four members of the Punahou girls water polo team have made commitments to Division I universities.
Annie Richardson, Katie Flanagan and Meagan Fawcett have signed with UCLA. Daya Mau is headed for Arizona State.
Flanagan will join her sister, Maureen, on the Bruins' roster.
Goo on the scene: Hawaii women's basketball coach Vince Goo was in attendance for Punahou's 58-36 victory over Kamehameha last week.
"We can't talk about individual players," he said, referring to the fact that he was taking a look at possible future recruits. "These are two real solid programs with a lot of tradition. We (Goo and the rest of the coaches) see as many high school games as we can. We're preparing our recruiting itinerary for the whole month of July."
Since the Wahine season ended early last month, Goo has also been playing some golf, relaxing and doing yard work.
Eagles host hoop camp: Hawaii Baptist Academy will host its eighth annual HBA Basketball HoopCamp June 10-14 at the school's gym.
The camp is open to boys and girls entering grades 4-12 for the 2002-03 school year.
The clinics will be led by former UH-Hilo coach Jimmy Yagi and former Vulcans guard Bill O'Rear.
Honokaa girls coach Daphne Honma, Big Island Interscholastic Federation official Linda Lopes, Waiakea girls coach Hamilton Manley and UH-Hilo assistant coach Eric Sanchez will also work at the camp.
Cost for the camp is $75 ($90 with a lunch plan) and includes a camp T-shirt and basketball.
