Toros sweep Sea Warriors
in baseball doubleheader

The Hawaii Pacific baseball team was victimized by a pair of notable hitting performances as the Sea Warriors dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Cal State Dominguez Hills yesterday in Los Angeles.

HPU (18-26) lost the first game at Dennis Gilbert Field 10-9 on Danny Jacobs' walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the seventh. Jacobs' blast capped the Toros' six-run rally in their final turn at bat.

Jonathan Torres went 3-for-4 with four RBIs for HPU.

In the second game, Jose Montes became the first CSUDH (27-18-1) player to hit for the cycle to lead the Toros to a 24-8 victory. Wade Taguchi paced HPU by going 2-for-4 with three RBIs.

UH sailors finish strong in St. Francis regatta

The nationally ranked Hawaii coed sailing team posted two top-10 finishes in the St. Francis Yacht Club Intersectional last weekend in San Francisco.

The Hawaii-1 crew of Bryan Lake, Jennifer Warnock, Adam Corpuz-Lahne and Lindsay Peters finished fifth in the 28-boat regatta with 151 points. Hawaii-2 came in eighth with 187 points. Hawaii-007 finished 19th with 353 points.

Stanford won the 10-race event. USC finished second.

The Rainbows coed team is ranked 10th in the latest Sailing World magazine poll.

Wahine golfers 18th in BYU tournament

The Hawaii women's golf team finished 18th in the BYU Dixie Classic yesterday in St. George, Utah.

The Rainbow Wahine posted a team score of 987 in the three-round tournament at Sunbrook Golf Course. UC-Irvine won the tournament with an 899.

Rene Krause was Hawaii's top individual finisher, tied for 19th with a 231.
