Kalaheo catches up with Sampson

Kalaheo scored four runs on five hits in the sixth inning to rally past Kaiser 4-3 in an Oahu Interscholastic Association baseball game yesterday.

Kaiser starter Sean Sampson, who finished the game with seven strikeouts and no walks, was cruising along with a one-hit shutout until the sixth. Kalaheo's Cody Racoma singled in the tying and winning runs to erase Kaiser's early 3-0 lead.

Neale Asato and Ricky Hamasaki combined to go 5-for-5 with two doubles for Kaiser.

Kahuku 12, Farrington 4: Red Raider starter Kyle Pao pitched a three-hit, seven-strikeout complete game to send the Governors to their fourth straight defeat.

Kahuku got half of its 10 hits in a six-run fourth inning. Jeremiah Bohnet and Alex Ponciano led Kahuku with two hits apiece.

Kalani 12, McKinley 5: The Falcons picked up their first victory of the season with a win at McKinley. Kalani improved to 1-2, while McKinley fell to 1-3. Details were not available.

OIA West

Waipahu 5, Leilehua 3: The Marauders rallied for three runs in the bottom of the sixth to defeat the Mules.

After Waipahu loaded the bases with one out in the sixth, an error allowed two runs to score to give the Marauders a 4-3 lead. Ross Garabiles added an insurance run with a sacrifice fly.

Shane Jelf earned the complete-game win for Waipahu.

Pearl City 16, Nanakuli 1: The Chargers improved to 2-1 with their rout of the Golden Hawks (0-3) on Friday. Details were not available.

Mid-Pacific 4, St. Louis 0: Patrick McGuigan tossed a complete-game one-hitter as the Owls recovered from their first loss of the season with a shutout of the Crusaders.

McGuigan struck out five and walked none to earn the win for the Owls, who lost to Pac-Five the night before.

Mid-Pacific catcher Matt Inouye provided all of the Owls runs. He gave MPI the lead with an RBI double in the third inning and hit a three-run triple in the fourth.

Kamehameha 16, Maryknoll 0: Keoni Ruth, Kahe Santos and Shannon Kahale homered as the Warriors routed the Spartans.

The game was called after the fifth inning due to the 10-run rule.

Punahou 7, Damien 3: The Buffanblu used three Monarch errors to score four runs in the bottom of the fourth, which proved to be the difference.

The game was tied 3-3 going into the fourth. Punahou loaded the bases with two outs when a throwing error allowed all three base runners to score.
