About 900 adults and students at Iao Intermediate School wore red T-shirts and assembled in the shape of a heart yesterday, commemorating the end of the observance of "A Season for Peace and Nonviolence." The students, who gathered at Wells Park in Wailuku adjacent to Iao Intermediate, participated in the 64-day observance. The international observance from Jan. 30 to April 4 focused on developing activities that promote peaceful thoughts and actions. The event, begun by the M.K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence, took place between the assassinations of Mahatma Gandhi on Jan. 30 and Martin Luther King Jr. on April 4.
