Late run lifts Tigers
over Surfriders

McKinley broke open a close game with a 12-2 run in the fourth quarter to score a 38-30 road win over Kailua last night in an Oahu Interscholastic Association Eastern Division girls basketball game.

McKinley (3-0) trailed the Surfriders, 28-26, after three quarters, but scored seven of its 12 fourth-quarter points from the free-throw line to pull away. Kristi Fukumoto made 4 of 6 free throws in the fourth quarter.

McKinley's Chyloh Rodrigues scored nine of her game-high 12 points in the second half. Amber Lee added 11 points for the Tigers.

Kamaile Hughes led Kailua (0-4) with 10 points.

It was the second game in a row McKinley used a fourth-quarter run to pull out a win. The Tigers outscored Kalaheo, 12-2, in the final period of their victory over the Mustangs on March 28.

Kalaheo 67, Farrington 54: The Mustangs rebounded from their first OIA loss in five years with a road win over the Governors.

Farrington led 32-31 at halftime, but Kalaheo took control by outscoring the Governors, 17-4, in the third quarter.

Latoya Wily led Kalaheo with 21 points and Bre Carson added 14, including three 3-point goals.

Laosamoa Uli led Farrington with 15 points.

Michelle Peters added 14 points for Kahuku, which remained undefeated at 3-0.

Baduria hit two 3-point shots in the final period and finished with 12 points. Cheryl Lee led all scorers with 16 points.
