The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Alexander & Baldwin Inc. and Hawaiian Electric Industries Inc. both hit 52-week highs over the last five trading days in an overall sluggish performance for stocks in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index. 4 Hawaii stocks
hit 52-week highsThe top performer was Aquasearch Inc., which Wednesday filed its reorganization plan. The Kona biotech firm gained just .03 of a cent over the period, but it was good enough for an index-leading 5 percent gain. Aquasearch closed Thursday at 6.3 cents.
Meanwhile, A&B rose .33 percent to close at a 52-week high of $27.61 Thursday while Hawaiian Electric, which hit its 52-week high of $44.21 Tuesday, gained .27 percent to $44.01.
Despite overall losses, two Hawaii banks posted 52-week highs. Central Pacific Bank parent CPB Inc., which fell 0.29 percent to $34.35, hit a one-year high of $34.51 Wednesday while City Bank parent CB Bancshares Inc., which fell .64 percent to $37.11, posted its 52-week high of $37.53 Tuesday.
