Mid-Pacific rides
9-run rally to a victory

After being limited to two hits over the first seven innings, the Mid-Pacific baseball team's bats awoke in the eighth as the Owls scored a 9-0 win over Iolani yesterday at the Raiders' field.

Mid-Pacific improved to 6-0 and remains alone in first place in the Interscholastic League of Honolulu. Iolani fell to 3-2.

Iolani starting pitcher Chris Loo shut down the Owls over the first seven innings, but Mid-Pacific put together a nine-run rally on six hits in the eighth to break the scoreless tie.

The Owls scored all of their runs with two outs in the inning. Tyler Okamura and Justin Pate drove in two runs each.

Patrick McGuigan earned the complete-game win for Mid-Pacific. He struck out six and walked just two over eight innings.

Cruz Hatanaka scattered five hits in picking up the complete-game win for the Crusaders.

Danny Lee went 3-for-4 at the plate and drove in three runs for St. Louis. Shane Butcher added a three-run homer.

Reily Maeda picked up the complete-game win as the Spartans won their second game of the season.

Maeda helped his cause with a two-run single in the first inning to open the scoring.

Punahou 9, Kamehameha 6

The Buffanblu broke open a close game with a five-run outburst in the fifth inning and held off the Warriors the rest of the way.

Landon Nakata highlighted Punahou's fifth-inning rally with a two-run single. Mark Veneri earned the win on the mound and went 3-for-4 at the plate.

Nick Freitas drove in three runs for Kamehameha.
