Louis Rukeyser in talks with CNN, CNBC

NEW YORK >> Louis Rukeyser, ousted as host of public television's "Wall Street Week" after 32 years, is in discussions with AOL Time Warner Inc.'s CNN and General Electric Co.'s CNBC cable-television networks, the companies said.

"We've had preliminary talks," said CNN spokeswoman Megan Mahoney. CNBC, a financial news network, is talking with Rukeyser "about future opportunities," spokeswoman Amy Zelvin said. Both officials wouldn't elaborate. Rukeyser didn't return a call seeking comment.

News Corp.'s Fox News Channel said it isn't in talks with the 69-year-old Rukeyser. His last appearance on "Wall Street Week" was last Friday, show producer Maryland Public Television said this week. It made the announcement after Rukeyser criticized a decision to replace him as host and name him senior commentator.

CBS MarketWatch.com columnist Marshall Loeb is hosting tonight's "Wall Street Week" program, said Jeff Hankin, a Maryland Public Television vice president. He declined to name the guests scheduled for the show.
