Students from Stanford University's "Alternative Spring Break" program helped improve the bird habitat at Kawainui Marsh yesterday morning by clearing out some of the overgrowth there. Jenny Chen, left, an economics major from Houston, Amanda Rang, an American-studies major from Kalihi, and Haanae Massarotti, a human-biology major from Guam, dragged branches up the embankment as each boatload of bushes come across the stream.
