Hofstra handles Hawaii
in elimination game



Hofstra took advantage of Hawaii's only error to post a 2-1 win over the Wahine in the Hawaii Invitational at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium yesterday.

Hawaii was eliminated from the tournament, but put Kate Judd and Stacie Hirano on the all-tournament team.

Leadoff hitter Heather Brousseau reached base on an error by Stacey Porter in the fifth inning, circled the bases station-to-station and scored the go-ahead run on a single to center field by Amanda Hallaway, who was 3-for-3.

Sea Warriors win 2 from Eastern Oregon

Hawaii Pacific followed up an 8-0 drubbing with a 2-1 win over Eastern Oregon yesterday.

The Sea Warriors (18-7) won the second game when Mallory Anderson earned a save in relief after winning the first game.

West wins 1,500 meters for Hawaii track team

Freshman Alethe West won the women's 1,500-meter run at the Cal State Northridge Invitational yesterday.

West ran a 4:32.80 to beat Wisconsin's Elaine Canchola by seven seconds. Canchola beat Hawaii's Casey McGuire-Turcotte by less than a second in a sprint to the finish for second place.

Hawaii has 3 national champions in wrestling

Melissa Fukushima of Punahou and Shani Alvarado and Stephany Lee of Moanalua won national championships in girls wrestling at Lake Orion, Mich., yesterday.

Jennifer Miyahira of Mid-Pacific and Anna Tong took silver medals. Hawaii placed third in the meet.
