Renew vows at sea

OUTRIGGER WAIKOLOA BEACH HOTEL AND RESORT
Bob and Candace Malson renewed their vows at sea in a free ceremony offered by the Waikoloa Beach Hotel.

The Outrigger Waikoloa Beach Hotel & Resort has introduced a vow renewal ceremony guaranteed to rekindle romance. The "Ceremony at Sea" is free to all paid passengers on the resort's Friday night Sunset catamaran cruise operating from Anaehoomalu Bay, fronting the 545-room beachfront resort. The sunset cruise costs $65 per person ($35 for children).

The ceremony takes place aboard one of two catamarans, the Alala or the Sea Smoke, operated by Ocean Sports. The vow exchange is led by the catamaran's captain and witnessed by the crew, passengers and occasionally whales and dolphins, as the sun sets off the Big Island's Kohala Coast. All participants receive a vow-renewal certificate signed by the captain and fresh floral leis to exchange. The fore deck allows up to six couples to participate as a group in the ceremony.

Afterward, couples receive a "shower of flowers" from crew and passengers, and everyone on board may participate in a champagne toast.

The 60-foot Alala, named after the endangered Hawaiian crow, was originally built to transport passengers to and from Catalina Island. There are 24 cushioned seats, several large couches, a large open bar and galley area equipped with TV, VCR, stereo and a karaoke machine.

The 58-foot Sea Smoke was built for Gunsmoke's Matt Dillon (James Arness). It features a full-service bar, Hydrophone for listening to marine life and a spacious deck with seating.

Once you return to land, Outrigger is offering an Oceanview Promotion with a $249 rate available per room per night, single or double occupancy, through June 30,2002.
