Police charged Mark Heyd, 46, of Kaneohe with four counts of first-degree sexual assault, four counts of third-degree sexual assault, kidnapping, and continuous sexual assault of a minor under the age of 14, which is a Class A felony.
Heyd is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
The 12-year-old Kaneohe boy reported that he had been sexually assaulted for several months, police said.
Heyd is a longtime coach of the Kainalu Major League team for children ages 10 through 12, and recent president of the Kainalu Little League, said Bob Kawamoto, Little League district administrator for Windward Oahu and Kauai.
Heyd also has been an assistant varsity basketball coach at Kalaheo High School for the past seven or eight years, said principal James Schlosser.
"If the accusation is true, he will not be rehired. If the accusation is not resolved by the start of the basketball season, he will not be rehired," Schlosser said.
Kawamoto said he has known Heyd since he was a boy playing baseball for Kainalu and his father was president of Kainalu Little League.
"He's a nice guy. I hope it turns out all right," he said.
