Warriors press the issue
to spur rout of Troubadours

Kamehameha pressed St. Francis in the second and third quarters to romp to a 51-24 Interscholastic League of Honolulu win last night.

The Warriors outscored the Troubadours 34-9 with the pressure defense.

St. Francis hung with Kamehameha until it encountered the press. When Kamehameha was playing defense straight-up, it only outscored St. Francis by two points.

Mounia Nihipali led the Warriors with 11 points, eight of them in the second half.

Chelsey Powell led St. Francis with nine points.

Iolani 39, Mid-Pacific 34: The Owls outscored the Raiders by five points in the final quarter but it wasn't enough to overcome the 11-point lead Iolani ran out to after the first quarter.

Trisha Nishimoto hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored 16 points for the Raiders, who had six players score.

Stephanie Toshi scored 17 points to help the Owls tie it after three quarters. Shannon Nishi helped her out with 11 points and the duo combined to hit 10 of their 11 free throws.

Sacred Hearts 44, University 26: At Sacred Hearts Gym, Brittney Aiwohi lit up the Junior 'Bows for 21 points -- nine of them on three 3-pointers -- and the Lancers held University to 12 points in the first half before outscoring them 10-1 in the third quarter.

Diane Okubo scored 12 points and Karlee Kailiehu added 10 for 22 of the Junior 'Bows' 26 points.

Katie Rutland contributed seven points for the Lancers.

Punahou 62, Maryknoll 56: At Punahou, Becky Hogue scored 25 points to Michelle Baduria's 24 to help the Buffanblu beat the Spartans.

Punahou only had a three-point advantage going into the final quarter, before outscoring Maryknoll 18-5.

Hogue got more help than Baduria, as Elyse Umeda scored 14 points and Rachel Kane chipped in 10 for the Buffanblu. Sela Fisilau was the only other player to score in double figures, getting 10 points for the Spartans.
