Kotomori designed the show to honor women and raise funds for the Hawaii Children's Cancer Foundation, and after the show, the women in the audience did their part, dashing to the lobby to purchase the garments that only a minute before had graced the runway.
Those who missed the show will have another chance to view and purchase the pieces from noon to 5 p.m. March 24 at Villa Roma at the Ward Warehouse. For more information, call the store at 596-0870.
THE DAY AFTER the Cherry Blossom event, it was time for the 53rd Narcissus Fashion Show featuring designs by Eva Kam and Wei Yang, the team behind Nouvelle Designs at 625 Kapahulu Ave.
The two staged a lengthy and diverse shows incorporating Chinese motifs, butterflies on white to mark the spring season, and a youth-oriented Euro-style collection with the women of Forté among the models.
It seems like only yesterday that Kam and Yang were attending the University of Hawaii at Manoa and they remembered their alma mater by sharing the stage with current students, showing a linen collection.
Expect to see a lot more of this pair.
