first place in PacWest
The Sea Warriors moved into first place in the Pacific West Conference with a 78-71 win over the last-place Mustangs last night at the Blaisdell Center.Hawaii Pacific (8-3) used a 14-0 run in the second half to put away the Mustangs (0-14), thanks to a double-double by Leandro Muraoka.
Brigham Young-Hawaii 94, Montana State-Billings 76: At Laie, senior Keli'i Naihe scored 22 points in his final game at the Cannon Activities Center as the Seasiders (7-4) knocked the Yellowjackets (9-5) out of first place.
Alexus Foyle led all scorers with 23 points and 11 rebounds, and Yuta Tabuse dished out 14 assists.
Danny Phillips led MSUB with 18 points and David Carse contributed 15.
Chaminade 69, Hawaii-Hilo 67: At McCabe gym, the Silverswords passed the Vulcans to fifth place in the conference with a win at home.
Mike Donegan led Chaminade (6-5) with 16 points and eight rebounds, while Kashif Reyes contributed 15 points.
Scott Prather led the Vulcans (6-6) with 18 points.
The Silverswords were down by seven at halftime, but came back to outscore the Vulcans by nine points in the second half.
