A Taste of Puna: Amateur chefs are challenged to show off the produce of Puna in a cook-off, 10 a.m. Saturday at Sure Save Supermarket in the Keaau Shopping Center. Contestants score more points for using more Puna products in their dishes or their presentations. For example, a dish using papaya, macadamia nuts, rambutan or oranges might be garnished with Puna-grown flowers to earn extra points. Deadline to enter is tomorrow. Call Mark Nakamura, 959-8678. Local Style Scholarship Brunch: Leeward Community College culinary students will be serving up brunch, 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday in the school cafeteria. The menu includes omelets, hot cakes, fried rice and a range of breakfast meats, breads and fruits, as well as salads and chicken stir-fry. Cost is $10 in advance; $12 at the door. Children are $5.
