THE head of the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, David Farmer, and his wife, Loren, won the "best costume" prize at the Manoa Valley Theatre benefit for promoter Tom Moffatt at the Hilton's Coral Ballroom Saturday night. Costner would be another fine addition to that lineup, especially since his interest in golf got serious when he played the Mauna Lani course while shooting "Waterworld" on the Big Isle. In fact, that inspired him to make the golf movie, "Tin Cup." ... Jim MacArthur of "Hawaii Five-0" fame, won the championship in the celeb division of the Frank Sinatra invitational golf tourney in Palm Desert, Calif., over the weekend. He finished well ahead of runner-up Elke Summer, who edged out Johnny Mann who finished third ...FORMER Isle resident Hella Rothwell photographed Hawaiian athlete Lehue Kahala Kekua as she carried the Olympic torch into the Mission Inn courtyard last month.
