[THE SEARCH FOR SIGNS OF HAWAIIAN LIFE]

art
Kim Jacobsen and Sonja Mitchell discovered the Aloha State Park on a recent trip to Michigan. "It is in the village of Aloha. The name is the result of the village's founder having taken a trip to Hawaii in the 1920s and then deciding to call the property Aloha -- a variation on an Indian word 'alowah,' which apparently had a similar meaning," reports Jacobsen.

"The Search for Signs of Hawaiian Life in the Universe" is just that: We're looking for evidence of Hawaiiana everywhere but Hawaii. Send snapshots and a description to TSFSOHLITU, Honolulu Star-Bulletin, 500 Ala Moana, Suite 7-210, Honolulu, HI 96813; or e-mail JPEGs or TIFFs to HiLife@starbulletin.com.
