Poipu Kapili, a luxury oceanfront condominium resort on the Garden Island, is offering reduced room rates and a seventh night free for stays during the month of April.

In addition, the resort's "Spring Fever" package for stays from April 1 through June 15 offers a choice of five or seven nights for two in a one-bedroom deluxe ocean view unit, a convertible rental car, a night at the movies at the historic Waimea Theater, fresh tropical flowers in your room upon arrival and a guided tour of the National Tropical Botanical Garden. What's new on Maui?

June weddings? Out. At least on Maui, where more weddings and honeymoons are scheduled in May and September according to Bride magazine's Honeymoon Travel Report.

Also on Maui: On the food front, Ruby's Diner, a 1950s style restaurant (with it's salute to the Pan American Clipper airliners that made Hawaii a vacation destination) has opened at Kaahumanu Center in Kahului with a menu of all-American favorites.

Then look for Sansei to expand into Kihei in April. The new restaurant will have 120 sets, including a sushi bar and lounge.

A Royal retreat

Continuing to forge partnerships, Pleasant Hawaiian Holidays and the Royal Lahaina Resort, on Maui, have teamed up to offer a fifth night free, plus daily breakfast, to Pleasant's guests who travel from Feb. 19 through June 19, and from Aug. 21 through Dec. 23, 2002, in accommodations that range from garden view to ocean view rooms with meals. Bookings are valid through March 28.

The five-night, land-only holidays start at $486 per person, double occupancy, reflecting a savings of $192 per room. Included in each travel package are fresh flower lei greeting, daily compact Dollar Rent A Car and accommodations.

The Royal Lahaina Resort is nestled amidst 27 acres of lush tropical foliage fronting a half-mile of Kaanapali's best beach. Guests have access to a variety of activities, including 3 swimming pools, tennis, scuba and snorkeling, and a nightly luau.

Call Pleasant at (800) 242-9244.

SOS Las Vegas in Hilo

A bit of Waikiki is heading for the Big Island. Don't worry. We're not talking about concrete. The Society of Seven Las Vegas makes its first Neighbor Island appearance with performances at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Hawaii Naniloa Hotel in Hilo.

Tickets are priced at $27 and are available by calling the hotel at (808) 969-3333.

SOS Las Vegas was created by the group's founding members Tony Ruivivar and Bert Sagum to bring Hawaii to Las Vegas and other destinations.
