Soaking in the beauty

Craig T. Kojima

While out on assignment along Judd Trail in Nuuanu, Star-Bulletin photographer Craig T. Kojima got distracted by the beauty of his surroundings. After the assignment, "I took a vacation from the schedule and took these photographs," he said. "There was a foot race to be held there the next day and I'm sure the runners became distracted, as I was, by the simple beauty of the area. I simply had to stop and soak it in."

While Hawaii doesn't have fall colors, it does have the reds and oranges of dead leaves that blanket the ground along the trail.

Vegetation is lush along the trail, and moss grows quickly on rocks.
