Fans in each of 25 tour cities entered the contest. As a national winner, Knox, 55, was flown to Honolulu for a seven-day stay that included not just the Saturday-night spree, but also front-row tickets for herself and daughters Rhonda and Teri at McKnight's Friday concert at the Sheraton-Waikiki, where McKnight serenaded her before hundreds of fans.
So what did Knox want? The full-time caregiver to her mom bypassed the frills of jewelry, clothes and cosmetics in favor of new appliances.
Knox said she couldn't believe she'd won, but said, "My mom said, 'You've been so kind to take care of me that you're being rewarded.'"
So she and McKnight debated the merits of self-cleaning ovens and energy-saving features vs. style. In the end, she came away with a new stove, other small appliances and a bunch of memories.
"I will always remember this amazing day with Brian."
