Mayor Kim no
slave to fashion

All the legislators, government officials, business people, visitors and county mayors came dressed to the nines to hear Gov. Cayetano deliver his last state of the state address on Tuesday-- except for Harry Kim.

The Big Island mayor sported an aloha shirt instead of the suits and ties of most of the other men gathered on the House floor. Considering his usual hang-around-Hilo garb of polo shirt, jeans and slippahs, the aloha shirt and street shoes were close to tantaran for Harry.

It's good to know that with Kim, what you see is what you get -- a regular, low-maintenance, no-act guy.
