in a spate of armed robberiesBy Nelson Daranciang
ndaranciang@starbulletin.comThe car is registered to Antwain Salters, another Kaneohe Marine, who police arrested later in the day.
Linwood and Salters, both 21, are charged with two armed robberies on Friday and one on Jan. 13. They are suspects in at least 10 other armed robberies dating back to Dec. 21 in which the robbers brandished semi-automatic handguns and wore ski masks, police said.
They made their initial court appearance yesterday and are scheduled to appear again tomorrow for a preliminary hearing. They remain in custody in lieu of $100,000 bail each.
Police searched the car over the weekend but would not confirm whether the items recovered were handguns and a ski mask.
"We recovered evidence in the robbery," said Detective Robert Cravalho, Honolulu Police Department robbery detail.
Other items that were seen in the car by the arresting officers, according to their affidavit, were a pair of black basketball shoes, a green sweatshirt and a dark colored, long sleeve hooded jacket. These items match the descriptions of what suspects were wearing in other armed robberies over the past month.
Linwood and Salters are charged with last Friday's 1 a.m. robbery of the 7-Eleven store at 94-264 Farrington Highway in Waipahu and the 3:48 a.m. robbery of Aaxtion Adult Video and Books at 1661 Kapiolani Blvd.
They are also charged with the Jan. 13 robbery of the Chevron Food Mart at 4562 Salt Lake Blvd. near Aloha Stadium in which the robbers were captured on video by a store surveillance camera.
