lfujimori@starbulletin.comBail for William Linwood and Antwain Salters was set at $100,000.
The suspects wore ski masks and used one black and one silver semi-automatic handgun in as many as 13 robberies, said Detective Joyce Alapa of the Robbery Detail.
One suspect was arrested at 5:25 a.m. Friday outside the Marine Corps Base Hawaii main station on a firearms violation. The other was arrested later that night.
Even as police were preparing charges against Linwood and Salters, what may be a copycat robbery was taking place in Kahaluu yesterday.
Two men described as being in their 30s held up the 7-Eleven store at 47-515 Kamehameha Hwy. near the Hygienic Store at 5:05 a.m.
One of the men brandished a black semi-automatic pistol and demanded money from the 25-year-old female clerk, while the other stood by, police said.
The men used T-shirts rather than ski masks to cover their faces and the description of the suspects did not match the description of the suspects who are in custody, police said.
"It's totally unrelated," said Lt. Roy Kajiuye of the Criminal Investigation Division. "If they did it because they wanted to copy someone, I don't know."
The gunman in the Kahaluu robbery was described as 5-foot 4, 120 pounds, with brown eyes and a tan complexion. He was wearing a tan shirt, black cargo-type pants and a black T-shirt covering his face.
His accomplice is described as 5 feet 6 inches tall, 120 pounds, with a slim build, brown eyes, a medium to tan complexion, wearing a tan T-shirt covering his face and tan shorts.
