The Honolulu Star-Bulletin, KGMB News, Pacific Business News, Honolulu Magazine and Trade Publishing Co. will offer full-time internships, which last 10 weeks and pay $3,000.
Part-time internships with KHON News, KITV News and Pacific News.net will last eight weeks and pay $1,500.
To be eligible, applicants must be currently enrolled in an institution of higher learning in the United States and must be bona fide Hawaii residents. Applicants must finish their sophomore year or higher by June and must be interested in a journalism career.
Those interested must send in a letter of application stating career goals, explain interest in journalism, a complete address and phone numbers, and should indicate which position or positions in which the candidate is most interested. Candidates may express an interest in any or all positions.
Samples of work and a college transcript should also be submitted.
Applications must be postmarked by Feb. 25 and mailed to Internship Committee, SPJ-Hawaii chapter, P.O. Box 3141, Honolulu, HI 96802. Application materials will not be returned. Candidates will be informed by March 8 whether they are finalists.
