NEW JOBS
>> Dr. Yong S. Goh has joined Straub Clinic and Hospital's Anesthesiology Department as its new chief of anesthesiology. He is board certified in anesthesiology and internal medicine. In addition, Dr. John Peter Kristofich has joined the hospital's cardiology department. He is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular medicine.>> Tony Price has joined Avalon Realty LLC as its associate director of sales. Price specializes in acquisition work for investment properties and development parcels.
>> Hawaiian Natural Water Co. has named Roger Morey as its senior vice president of sales and marketing. He will be responsible for all sales and marketing efforts in Hawaii and expansion markets in North America. Morey previously served as director of marketing at Eagle Distributors.
>> Wendell F. Brooks Jr. has re-established the Honolulu based real estate and business consulting practice he operated for five years prior to his employment with Kamehameha Schools. Brooks was most recently chief investment officer of Kamehameha Schools' $6 billion endowment. As a consultant, Brooks offers services based on his experience in development, as well as project and asset management in Hawaii, the U.S. mainland and the Pacific Rim.
PROMOTIONS
>> Starwood Hotels and Resorts Hawaii has named new general managers at three of its properties. Craig Anderson was named general manager at The Westin Maui. He previously served as general manager at the Princeville Resort. Kelly Hoen was named as Anderson's replacement. And Jon Gersonde will serve as general manager at the Kapalua Bay Hotel, replacing Hoen. Gersonde was previously a hotel manager at The Westin Maui. In addition, Erica Neves was promoted to regional communications manager for Hawaii and French Polynesia. She will manage all regional advertising and public relations initiatives in the area for Starwood. Neves most recently served as director of public relations at the Sheraton Moana Surfrider and Sheraton Princess Kaiulani hotels.>> Jon Nagata has been promoted to branch manager at Finance Factors' new Kahala Branch. He will oversee all branch operations as well as internal and external sales. Nagata previously served as a mortgage loan underwriter at the bank.
>> Atlantis Adventures has named Paul Dyson as general manager of Atlantis Cruises. He has been with the company as its safety and training officer since 1995. Atlantis Cruises is a new name for the cruise business, which had been known as Navatek Cruises.
>> Castle & Cooke Homes Hawaii has promoted Bruce Barrett to vice president of sales and marketing. He will be responsible for the planning, promoting, marketing, selling and closing of new and resale homes for all Castle & Cooke development projects. Prior to his promotion, he served as principal broker for the company, a duty he will continue. Barrett has nearly 30 years of experience in the real estate industry.
>> Shan Wong has been promoted to account executive at Communications-Pacific Inc. Specializing in media relations, special event promotions, community events and e-marketing, Wong joined Com-Pac last year as an account coordinator. In addition, Brant Chillingworth and Molly Watanabe have joined the firm. Chillingworth will focus on civic affairs and community building as an account executive. Watanabe, also an account executive, will focus on media relations, special event promotions, book promotion and community events. She worked at several boutique public relations agencies in New York before returning to Hawaii.
>> Julie Funasaki and Katrina Souza have been promoted to account executives at PRWorks Inc. Funasaki and Souza joined the company in February 2000 and December 1999, respectively. The two had been assistant account executives at PRWorks before being promoted.
ON THE BOARD
>> The University of Hawaii College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources has elected the following individuals to its advisory board: Larry Cundiff, Lynn Fallin, Rodney Haraguchi, G. Stephan Holaday, Wayne Katayama, Millicent Kim, Derek Kurisu, Colette Machado, Susan Matsushima, Hamilton McCubbin, Loren Mochida, Dean Okimoto, Herbert "Monty" Richards, Douglas R. Schenk, Jody Schucart, Alec Sou, Harold Tanouye, Dennis Y. Teranishi, Ernest Tottori and David Wong. Advisory board members serve two-year terms.
RECOGNITION
>> Ron Ogata has retired as chief executive officer of Ha-waiiUSA Federal Credit Union. He has nearly 40 years of experience in the financial services industry. In November he was inducted into the national Credit Union Executives Society Hall of Fame at a ceremony in Las Vegas. Ogata was the first credit union executive from Hawaii to be chosen for the honor. He remains a director of the Hawaii Credit Union League and is president of the Oahu Chapter of Credit Unions.
