Brisk weather yesterday prompted members of Kaimuki High School's varsity paddling team to huddle together under an umbrella for warmth and to avoid the rain. Waiting at Magic Island to board their canoe for paddling practice were, from left, Chauna Omoso, Anne Antonio, Kayna Rodrigues, Leialoha Wells, Chas Morn and Jamie Tsubaki.

The city unveils a new, more colorful look for its buses

Say goodbye to the old yellow and brown stripes. The city unveiled 10 new 30-foot low-floor buses yesterday that feature TheBus' new rainbow-hued color scheme. The new bus design will be incorporated as the city replaces older buses in its 525-bus fleet. The smaller buses, used for neighborhood routes, cost $268,000 each.
